Here's the deal. I want to offer it to the list before I sell it to the eBay
hawks LOL!!
It's a Stewart-Warner Electronics version from 1962. It has been cleaned up
extensively, but
the gear train could use some more cleaning - although they move smoothly
and do not bind, they don't have
the show quality shine I've seen on some. The COMPLETE SET OF TUBES have
been replaced with NOS
mil spec tubes, and I managed to acquire 3 IERC heat shields for the more
critical tubes. All the "problem caps"
have been replaced as per the reccomendations and the AF section has had the
Chuck's audio modification
performed - in addition to any out of spec resistors being replaced in the
AF, IF and RF decks. The radio also
has its ORIGINAL PANEL METERS.
The local audio output at the rear has been adapted to accept an 8 ohm
loudspeaker,
through a standard phono plug mounted in an aluminium shield. This was done
with
the aid of a transformer and as far as I can tell, was done while it was
still in service.
(I bought the rig at auction where Dover Air Force Base was the seller) and
it was
done when I bought it. It works accross ALL bands, but there is a constant
60hz hum
though the headphones or speaker (when attached). The radio is a little out
of
calibration but I don't have a signal generator right now, and I don't want
to make it
worse. This is the first rig I've rebuilt in about 10 yrs, the last being a
KWM-1,
and I don't have a lot of the gear I used to have - wife made me do it LOL
The power cord was replaced with a moulded plug design grounded cord, as per
mil
reccomendations, and the original cable clamp is still there. The front
panel has
been cleaned, and the knobs have been baked in black enamel paint, and the
white
inlays were added by hand to the knobs in enamel. The writing on the
receiver front
panel is factory, and is 100%. The inner diagram is present on the inner
cover,
but the radio does not have the upper and lower louvered panels.
The receiver comes with all available receipts for the tubes and restoration
parts purchased, and the electrolytic capacitors to rebuild the two AF
filter
caps if you so choose, as well as a printed manual, and a host of spare
NOS mil-spec tubes PLUS extra ORANGE DROP capacitors, in case you feel the
urge ;)
May be able to deliver to NYC/PA/NJ/MD/DE or buyer can arrange pick-up. I
have
no idea how to ship something this big LOL!
If anyone's interested, make me an offer. I have pics I can send, but most
of
you already know what they look like.
