I have a nice one that Roy Morgan sold to me. It is a 240v unit that is fed
by a transformer stepping down to 120v. No problems this way and I already
had the xformer here gathering dust. I mounted everything on a heavy,
treated 2x6 piece to sit beside the rack. This feeds a power strip with a
R-390A, Heath HD-11, Bogan amp, and an AC voltmeter that is on the rack.
Anyway, this is all pretty much invisible when I turn on the power as
everything switches on. I keep the variac set to around 113-115vac all the
time. The variac is nice to have installed as I can run anything that is on
the work bench over to the variac if I need to slowly bring up the voltage.
