R-390 Aficionados,

An esteemed colleague (Don Reaves) has suggested I re post this to the
R-390 list.
The fellow posting to the Collins list was asking for advice on whether he
should buy an R-390A or not.

Al,

There are some factors to consider:

A. Money
B. Your skill at fixing things
C. A friend's skill at fixing things.

If you have lots of A, buy it.

If you have a modest amount of A and lots of B or C, buy it.

If you have a little of A, and no R-390 at all, buy it and acquire B or C.

If you have no A at all but lots of B, use B to get A and buy it.

I guess the bottom line is: buy it.
