Bill,
Since I've talked to Rick Mish in the past and found him an unusually nice
guy to deal with I decided to ask him his side of this story. I've been on
R-390A lists for a long time, and I've never read anything bad about him. To
the contrary, everyone seems to universally agree on his honesty and quality
work.
Well, he said just about everything you did....to a point. He didn't feel
that you should get all of the claim money from UPS to do your own repairs
AND demand the replacement parts from him for free. He did say that he
offered to do the claim paperwork, repairs, and repacking for you but you
decided to not trust the radio to a shipper again. He said that he suggested
some other shipping options to you but you turned those down.
I felt it wasn't fair to rake a guy over the coals without him being around
to offer his side of things. I'm glad I contacted him so that both sides are
heard. There are some great guys who do qreat work on boatanchors. Rick,
Chuck, Dan, and Al are a few. I think those guys deserve their input if
someone is disgruntled and starts saying things about their work.
Go ahead and flame me if you want. But, Rick said one thing that sort of
bothers me about this whole mess. He said that you swore you would poison
any talk about him in the future. I hope this isn't what you are trying to
do now.
