Hi, I had a similar "positive" experience on a claim - it took about 3
months before I got a $100 out of them on an item that was broken way inside
a package that was probably my fault for not packing differently. The guy I
sent it to was adamant about pursuing UPS on it so I made about 4 contacts
in all before it was resolved. On another shipment of a Viking
transmitter, they dented the frame of the power supply and a couple of
ceramic sockets got broken - again the recepient was sure it was UPS's fault
and I ended up getting a $100 out of them after almost a year of going back
and forth, about 4 or 5 exchanges between them and me. They never examined
either item. I concluded that for small claims they will settle with
persistence - they are not easily accessible to handle matters but it can be
done. I do not recommend the process as being worth it. I have become a
better packer which is a better solution and I don't hesitate to offer my
advice to someone sending me a vulnerable item. I try to be tactful when
advising since there are a lot of good packers out there that know more than
me. Dan.
