I'm happy for you and trying not to be
too envious.  Mine's pretty smooth, but
it takes a stiff finger to do that.

You might want to check for backlash.
Put a dial indicator on the leftmost
rack.  Tune one way.  How far do you
have to go the other way before
the rack moves again?  I went to some
lengths to minimize this and I get
around 15kHz.
