My 2 cents and it is that. Fear the switch. :-)
The switch actually provides a voltage or control to diodes in the IF
filters. Look there to see whats going on first. Does the switch sometimes
make...
I suspect you would know this but will share. The switch is made of at
least 2 contacts. The stationary common and the selected contact. The
movable selector might be dirty at one end of the rotation. Since LSB is
next to standby. Just a thought.
