Paul mentioned that the motor windings are shorted causing the motor to
brake when the relay is de-energized. This brings up a question I have
with a 1051B that I gave up on several years ago.

The module in this receiver that has the band crystals has a selector
switch that is turned by a motor. The problem with the receiver is that
when the crystal switch is rotated to select the correct crystal and the
power is de-energized to the motor, it coasts until the switch passes
over the contact before it stops. I don't have the schematic in front of
me, but my question is that - should this motor be "breaking" after
power is removed?

By fiddling with it, I can sometimes get the crystal selected and the
receiver works perfectly.

Has anyone seen this type of fault before?
