My memory is foggy on this but I think there was a guy on eBay selling "comb
bound" reprints of the D series manual on eBay for awhile, he was located in
Jacksonville Florida.  As you know, the manual is quite large with fold-out
schematics, such that reproducing it would be truly a hassle.  The D uses a
different front panel and the newer 6-pack module, at the least.

Back in the 1970's when nobody but the military had any of these receivers,
I remember seeing now-defunct surplus dealers offering the original D
manuals for $ 10 each and nobody wanted them.  Naturally, now that the
manuals are needed, they have disappeared.  At one time NTIS was a good
source too but they seem to have restricted a great deal of material after
9/11 (as if Bin Laden is looking for an R-1051 manual...)
