Jan -

  Did you say that the oscillator starts out at 5.16 MHz then moves down
to 5.000 as the oven heats up?  Do both of these numbers come from a
single oven/oscillator?

  I cannot believe that a crystal would survive enough of a temperature
change to make it change frequency that much.  TRC-75 proportional ovens
will move like +/- 10 PPM as they warm up, compare that to the 32,000
PPM that you are seeing in the R-1051 oven/oscillators.

  If you're seeing 32,000 PPM change over warmup, then you may have just
an LC oscillator there -  maybe the crystal is not determining the
oscillator freq...
