[QRP] Kit Recommendations

Hi Mark! Thanks for the note. Well, quite honestly, I am not a big CW
op. I managed to pass the ARRL 20 WPM certification but I rarely
actually operate the mode although I do a lot of listening.

I have a number of the SWL QRP PSK-31 units, all except the 10 meter one
actually and I find them to be excellent for both price and quality, to
say nothing of the ease with which they go together. The performance at
such low power levels is nothing short of amazing and it amuzes me to be
able to QSY without touching a dial or tweaking a crystal.

Antennas: Well antennas here sorta suck. Not necessarily because of
their placement or construction but because the corona from the 13.6 KV
powerlines no more than 50 feet away at best added to the noise generated
by neighboring mercury vapor lighting makes reception on virtually all
frequencies below 2 Meters iffy at best although having a Clear Speech
digital speaker helps a great deal. I am hoping that an anticipated
multiband quad with which I hope to replace my antique Mosley Classic 33
will help to lower the random noise to some extent. The dual band quad I
have on 6 and 2 meters will help to some extent.
