Gar,
For now... I just 'bolted' my Rock Mite to a piece of PC board stock
and the connectors etc are mounted to the stock. I decided to go this
route for a while so that I can easily tack possible
modifications/changes on the board stock and connect to the Rock Mite
easily. i.e. a Prototyping platform. (yes, I work in the industry, so
used to this type of R&D setup). I'll move it to some permanant box
when I'm done goofing around with it...
No real fancy antennas here. I have a 14AVQ ground mounted with 32
radials, a 150 Ft. Random Wire, and a OCF dipole at about 20 Feet. No
doubt that the vertical is my best DX antenna. I've been quite
pleased with it since putting it up about a month ago. Really makes a
difference on those longer east and west coast paths for me on 40 and
20.
I have a OHR-100A for 40M that I built about 5 years ago. This is an
excellent rig! It has a very nice receiver, and is a joy to run.
Matter of fact, I use it every year in CW SS! I also own a Tkit 1320
for 20M and it is a nice rig.. Tho, I do prefer the OHR's I believe.
The Small Wonders SW series is also excellent for the $55 price tag.
(I have a SW40 that I need to build!!)
I've been pretty impressed with the Rock Mite. For $25 it is alot of
radio!!! Best of luck in your building and QRP Ops!
73,
Mark
