QCWA Bulletin 2022-002 - Elizabeth (Betsey) Doane, K1EIC Honored by the 
State of Connecticut for Service to Higher Education

The QCWA Board of Directors are pleased to announce that former 
Connecticut Section Manager Betsey Doane, K1ECI will be honored for her 
work in accessibility and inclusion in higher education.

QCWA Member # 17221 since 1983, and a member of QCWA Chapter 149, Betsey 
was first licensed in 1958 as K1ECI, and resides in Shelton, CT. Barb 
Lombardi, K1EIR, Betsey's twin sister andQCWA member # 17700, mentioned: 
"My sister found out that an award will be named after her for her work 
with the State higher education services for accessibility and 
inclusion. It will be 'The Betsey Doane Innovation for Accessibility and 
Inclusion Award' given [annually] to a faculty member in a State college 
or community college who has given or contributed the most to access and 
inclusion." Betsey lists her hobbies as computers, cooking and ham radio.

Doane, a retired professor of mathematics and computer science 
professor, is also active in her local Rotary club, as well as the 
Chamber of Commerce.
