QCWA Bulletin 2021-011 - Larry Gabriel, K7LG - New QCWA Certificate
Custodian

The QCWA Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of
Larry Gabriel, K7LG as the new QCWA Certificate Custodian replacing Vic
Culver, W4VIC who retired in late 2020. Vic had served as Certificate
Custodian since 2013.

Larry is QCWA Member # 34917 and a member of QCWA Chapter 7. He was
first licensed in 1978 as WB7PZE in Las Vegas, NV and now resides in Van
Nuys, CA.

Over the years he has worked everything from 160m to 440, CW thru
digital modes (WSPR). He has helped with field day, with antennas for
all sorts of ham friends and also experimented with very long wire
antennas laying on the ground.

Larry recently retired working in the communications industry since
1978, when he was hired on as a radio technician at the Union Pacific
Railroad in Los Angeles, eventually transferring back to Las Vegas,
Nevada and worked there until 1985. Then he began working on the road
with Harris/Farinon installing microwave equipment throughout the US for
the next two years. Tired of being on the road, in 1987 he started to
work for Los Angeles County Dept of Public Works, also as a radio
technician. He was responsible for 65 SCADA sites, 5 microwave sites, 45
base stations and was responsible for maintaining 140 FCC licenses.

47 & 73,

Ken Oelke, VE6AFO
