Greetings QCWA Chapter Officers!
First of all folks, just to let you know this reflector was created some
21 years ago to provide a forum for all chapter officers to engage in
discussions with other chapter officers to learn what each chapter is
doing. You may wish to use this forum to share and exchange ideas,
success stories, along with what is not working for you as a chapter. We
do know the pandemic has not made it easy for chapter officer and member
engagement.
As an info, this is a closed reflector and only chapter officers are on
the list to send and receive messages. If any others try to send a
message, it will be held back.
So this brings me to reaching out to all chapter officers to ask if you
could please reach out to your chapter members to see if any are willing
to serve on the QCWA Nominations Committee. This is an important part of
the democratic process to seek out and encourage members to stand for
QCWA National office for the upcoming election, which will be held in
the spring of 2023. That seems like a long time from now, but it
actually is not. Why?
The Nomination Committee needs to be in place by June 30th, 2022 to
begin their work in finding candidates to run for office on the QCWA
National Board. That is less than a year from now. The committee will
then have until November 15, 2022 to file their report. This gives them
time to seek out candidates to run for office. Time moves on quickly,
and before you know, June 30th, 2022 will be here!
The full Nomination Committee guidelines are in Section 8 of the
Director Policy Manual, which is available on the Members Only Web page.
On the left hand side menu, select "Publications" and then scroll down
to find "Misc Pubs" > Director Policy Manual.
As well, I know there are many a good member who may wish to stand for
office for the next election year. We need new candidates with new
ideas! So while reaching out to seek members for the Nomination
Committee, also please ask if any of your members would be interested to
run for National office. If so, please let me know!
I might also add, over the many years in where QCWA was not in a
position to reimburse out of pocket expenses for attending an in person
Board meeting, (i.e. flights, hotel accommodations and meals), this has
all changed over the last few years. These expenses are now paid. I know
this has held some members back from standing for office, so no more
excuses!
I can be reached at <president at qcwa.org>
Thanks for your attention and anticipated e-blast to your members with
my memo. If any of you need further assistance or have more questions,
please do not hesitate to contact me.
