Chapter 202- Gem State in Idaho- implemented the associate member program (
must be licensed however) several years ago and it allowed us to stay
afloat. With Idaho having a small ham population, we needed all the support
we could get.
The vote from our 6 national members was 6 yes and no opposed to allowing
non voting associate members at the nation level. There were questions
about what would be in it for associate non voting members but we were able
to say that the goals and benefits (other than voting) could be the same.
That seemed to soften "what's in it for me" concerns

Associates membership "FANTASTIC IDEA" why did I not think of it! Why
reinvent the wheel? To any chapter who has implemented this please share
what you have done as our chapter needs more members.
I recall a plaque on the wall behind a former directors desk that said
"There they go, I must hasten after them for I am their leader".

My sentiments exactly, Steve. We've had 'unofficial' associates for a number
