[QCWA Hotlist] Chapter Situations

Hello Doug,

You send an email to Chuck and CCed Larry and Myself. When I receive a courtesy copy I
only respond if the questions being asked are beyond the scope of the person the email is
addressed to. In this case they are not, in fact Chuck is the only one capable of
generating the list you are looking for.

It is over a week since you sent your first email, the time between postings is 7 days
and 8 hours.

I get dozens of emails a week(sometimes a day) and I respond to every one of them that is
addressed to me. I also work a full time job, am secretary of Chapter 8, the QCWA
Webmaster, the administrator of both QCWA reflectors. and president of the church I
attend.

You made many statements about the hard times that have befallen Chapter 5 and I am
sympathetic to your situation. As Larry has already pointed out, I formed a committee to
help address issues just like yours. I also pushed for and created the Hotlist reflector
in 2004 when I was the Vice President. If you have questions about what other chapters
have done about almost any situation, send them to the Hotlist Reflector. The presidents
and secretaries of the active chapters that included an email id on the annual reports are
here, as are the Board of Directors and the Chapter Relations Committee. That is a lot of
knowledge about what has worked and what has not worked at the chapter level.

Your 6 paragraph email only contained a two questions, they concerned getting a list of
Hams in your area(30 miles) and could it include non affiliated members. The answer to
both questions is yes. Chuck has the only access to the membership database. It's on a
computer at HQ that is not connected to the internet for security reasons. Larry already
informed you to send a list of zip codes to him.

QCWA doesn't have a museum or store room to keep historical Chapter information, I wish we
did. There just isn't money in the budget for anything like this. If push comes to
shove, is there a Radio Museum or a library in your area that might accept it?

Chapter Names and Numbers are never reissued but can be reactivated, Chapter 36 in Indiana
just became active again.

You should have received an Annual Report in December and responded to it before the end
of February. That mailing should have included a complete list of all the Chapter 5
members.

We both know keeping a chapter running is lots of work and sometimes it just plain does go
very well.

I wish you all the best in your efforts to revitalize Chapter 5.

Very 73,
Bob Roske, N0UF
President, QCWA
