[QCWA Hotlist] New QCWA Members from QSO Party

The Spring 2010 QCWA QSO Party has come and gone, but we have
a great potential to tap.

As those of you that worked the QSO Party know, there were
some stations that you contacted that were not QCWA members.
Since you know the year they were first licensed, you can
easily go back through your log, and see who was licensed in
1985 or before.  If they gave you a state instead of a chapter
member, they are probably not a QCWA member.  But they should
be.

Invite them to join.  You can get an e-mail address for most
by going to www.qrz.com and looking up their call.  Most will
have an e-mail address listed.  If not, try theircall at arrl.net.
It might work.  If not, the worse it could do is bounce.

Once you have their e-mail address, you can send them an e-mail
inviting them to join QCWA.  You could mention that they could
go to
http://qcwa.org/membership-application-form-us.pdf
and download an application.
They could also go to
http://qcwa.org/events-by-chapter.htm
to find when some of the more active local chapters have
their meetings, and where.
If they do not find a local chapter there, they can go to
http://qcwa.org/active-chapters.pdf
and find a longer list of active chapters, and contact information.
Above all, invite them to join.  Suggest that they do it now,
and remember to send the application in to HQ.

To invite them to join, I would suggest that you write an e-mail
to each one personally.  You can use the same content by copying
and pasting in to each e-mail, but try to personalize it to the
ham.  After all, you have his name from the QSO Party.

If you are reading this on the hotlist reflector, that means that
you are an officer or director in your local chapter.  You might
mention this fact to them, and maybe list some of the exciting
things that your chapter has done recently.

The main thing is simply this -- we have a golden opportunity
to recruit new members.  We need to use it.
