WN4WDB, 1952, 9th Grader, High Point, NC
 
Elmer-Build 50W, 80m, rock-bound, CW rig with J-38 key (which I still  have)
 
S-38B Receiver (Shortly thereafter graduated into a Hammerlund  HQ-129X 
Receiver)
 
Antenna was uninsulated electric fence wire thrown out the window and  
wrapped around trees in the yard. (Shortly thereafter a real dipole !!)
 
I actually worked some stations with this setup.  :>))
