Clearly, any QCWA Member my vintage has an explanation for that!........
 
The subject is obviously a "squadron member" and is utilizing a "communicator" to talk with non other than Captain Midnight!!.......
 
Hmmm?........Now where did I leave that decoder ring and the Ovaltine?

OK Old Timers, who has an explanation for this? It is not a radio 
earphone or Handi-Talkie (have you seen the HT's from WWII) Maybe
