[QCWA] New 2010 Roster Statistics

I want to respond to WA6FWI's comments regarding his bad experiences with
some of our members; I do not doubt his assertions but I do believe they can
be overcome. To begin with what he claims cannot be representative of all
our members--perhaps just a few. Solution: look for another group or
Chapter. I might remind him that things could be worse--when they call for
"Old Business" at our meetings, everyone looks to me. Seriously, I can only
comment on our Chapter but I cannot and will not believe that we are the
only one within the National (and International) QCWA. We welcome all hams
and guests to our monthly and quarterly meetings as well as welcoming all
licensees to join on our weekly net. Some of our WW II Vets and cw
operators are getting on in years and I am proud to say that some of our 56
year olds (and younger) are assisting them in their amateur radio
requirements, transportation, etc. We know that we need each other in order
to survive. Another solution might be to run for local office (or start
another chapter). We need young leadership although some younger members
still work; I was able to do both and just retired about two years ago. I
think leadership is a big part of the answer; In conclusion, if all else
fails, pack up and move to Central Florida, join us and your problems will
be over. 73. AL, W2AS, President, Chapter 45, QCWA
