[QCWA] Have a Great Time!

Bless you, Dave. Sorry you can't make it to Virginia Beach this year.
The convention is shaping up very nicely indeed. We will have a great
crowd of QCWA folks here to celebrate all that makes QCWA great. But we
do understand that family comes first, and the other obligations that
keep some good folks away from us. Maybe we can all celebrate QCWA at
another time in another wonderful location.

But if you, or anyone else, can't be here in person, please look for
WQ4CWA on the ham bands. Thanks to Icom we have a PROIII all ready to
take to the airwaves from a secure venue looking out over the beach and
into the ocean. There is a big Carolina Windom antenna stretching from
the roof of the 11 story hotel building, itself right on the beach. The
station will be most active from 20 meters down through 80 meters, both
CW and SSB, depending on the operators signed up for operation at any
given time. Should 15 and 10 meters open up we'll be there as well. We
will try to be spotted on the spotting networks when we are on the air.
Look for WQ4CWA, the official call sign for QCWA Chapter 119.

If you can't come to convention, then the convention will come to YOU!

We'll be thinking about you, Dave -- you and all the other QCWA folks
who can't make it to Virginia Beach for this convention. I've been
watching the weather forecasts and by the looks of things we're going to
have one of those magical weekends coming up -- warm sunny days with
cool evenings. Temperatures are supposed to be in the mid-70 during the
day and dropping down to the mid-50's at night.

So those of you headed this way -- dress appropriately. You'll
definitely want a sweater or windbreaker for those moonlight walks on
the beautiful beach and light sun wear for the daytime strolls up and
down Atlantic Avenue, The Boardwalk, or out on one of the tours. Wear
comfortable shoes but be prepared to wiggle your toes in the sand.

I'll be checking into the hotel tomorrow, Wednesday, and will be waiting
for you to arrive. Have a safe trip. 73, Vic, W4VIC, QCWA 2008
