  Clyde Schaffnit, KB8HV SK  --- 4 January 1919 to 5 December 2007

SCHAFFNIT, Clyde R. Age 88, from Bellbrook Ohio became a silent key on 
December 5^th .
Born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1919, Clyde was a radio enthusiast from an 
early age,
building his first crystal radio set as a boy. In his adulthood he 
earned the amateur radio license
and became WA8DEV and later upgraded to KB8HV.

Clyde's patriotism and his interest in aircraft led him to join the Army 
Air Corps during World War II.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War as an engineer at 
Wright Patterson Air Force Base,
where he later worked as a civilian engineer. He retired after 
thirty-three years.

His wife Janet, 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 
several nieces and nephews will miss him.

Clyde was a kind and loving man with an abundant sense of humor. He had 
many friends.

A memorial service will be held on January 4th 2008 which would have 
been his 89^th birthday at the
Westminster Presbyterian Church, 990 Old Springfield Pike, Xenia, Ohio,.

Clyde was co-founder of the Bellbrook Amateur Radio Club (BARC) and a very active member over the past 30-some years.  
He was a member of DARA (Dayton Amateur Radio Ass.), QCWA (Quarter Century Wireless Ass.),
MVUS (Midwest VHF/UHF Society) and AMSAT (Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation).
