Sorry to tell you, but in the "real world" -- "numbers" are the one that counts. 

Politicians look at numbers and make decisions based on those "numbers."  

Advertisers look at numbers and decide where to markt a product.  

Etc.  Etc.

Bottom line:  The 84 are entitled to an opinion, but the reality is that the numbers have the attention of the folks who will decide.  It may not be a good decision, but its likely to be the onme made because 11,000 votes are more important to politicans than are 84.
