Hi All:
I'm not a graduate but a current DOD civilian employee. Monmouth is alive and well - at least for the next few years. The official closing date is 15 Dec 2011. It's a shame, I haven't been here long, but this is a really nice place to work, a great bunch of people and a beautiful location.
For those of you nearby, there is a fairly nice museum on post. My team is doing a web site for them and I recently got the grand tour of the museum and the artifacts stored in the warehouse. It was nice to see TTY gear my father used in WWII. They also have one of those early radar sets of the same vintage as the one that picked up the Japanese aircraft nearing Pearl. I was most fascinated by the extensive collection of vacuum tubes - made me miss my old Hammarlund HQ-145AC - may it rust in peace :) The curator's father was a ham.
The official web site is http://www.monmouth.army.mil
For any other DOD employees out there that have been BRAC'ed or RIF'ed or contracted-out (for me it's been 2 BRACS and 3 RIFS) please enjoy my VERY unofficial Ft. Monmouth site:
