I became eligible at 41 in 2002. Joined as soon as I could. Have yet to be
stateside for any decent length of time since them, but the moment I am, I'm
going to become very active in the Vic Clark chapter. If there is anything
I've learned as a Ham, it's that I enjoy the company and tend to share the
values of those older than myself. No other hobby gives you the opporunity
to do such a thing. On the radio we are all "ageless", especially on my
beloved CW.
I hope I have as long a ride as you and some of the others who have checked
in, but I sure envy you being there when you were. I'm sure others will
look back on this as the dawn of a grand new information age, but no 12
year-old kid is homebrewing quantum computing hardware in their garage.
It's an age of R&D, but not by the individual, and I don't think many young
people realize the difference.
73,
Bob, K2PI

Hi all,
Harvey, W4TG, congratulations on receiving your 75th year award. As I said
earlier, I'm hoping to get mine in two years.
Bob, K2PI, looks as if you're the youngest, so far at 45. But you didn't say
how old you were when you became eligible.
Norm, K1AA, you were 16 when you were licensed.
Jim, W5JO, you were 12 when you were licensed.
Jim beats Norm and me. I was 14.
And Ron, KX1W, my call is W2DU, not W1DU.
Walt, W2DU
