Hi Norm,
I'm, Carolyn Harrison, the Chapter Relations Committee Chairman with QCWA,
I think you and others with the local chapters are the leadership to
initiate becoming more proactive in you own areas first and foremost. And
it's sounds like your a good example of working to draw other into our peer
group.
I believe the QCWA BOD members do try to attend local and regional
hamfests and attend local chapter meetings when possible. Some chapters are
very active while some are existing are the two camps I would put
chapters in. My thought is that the local chapter members are the essential
day -by -day contacts in our communities to strengthen our amateur radio
clubs. The national level of QWCA does support your efforts any way we can
but in the final analyze it's your impact on family, friends and
acquaintances that means the most. You are the ones living out your
enthusiasm for amateur radio before their eyes. There is no possible way !3
or 14 QCWA BOD members can have the presence that 7000 plus QCWA members
can in their local arena of influence!
Our Committee will be working on an agenda item to possibly honor chapters
just as now we honor chapter individual members. With the holidays fast
approaching, this matter may be taken up in early 2007.
You have been a ham longer than I have been alive, but I know amateur radio
has been a very, very good part of my life! May you have many more years to
enjoy our wonderful hobby!! I really appreciate your sharing your ideas
with the QCWA BOD.
