Greg Gambor - WB2GMK has informed me that the American Victory Amateur Radio
Club (W4AVM) is actively seeking new members to join them in their unique -
floating radio club.
A meeting is planned for February 10th at 7 pm - aboard the SS American
Victory. The ship is docked behind the Tampa Aquarium with limited parking
at dockside, and addition parking across the street in the covered parking
garage. A map and directions from any address are available at the radio
club website (still very much under construction) at
http://americanvictoryradioclub.homestead.com/meetings.html.
In an effort to make this membership drive a success, besides the website,
I've also started and email group which will provide automatic email
notification of monthly club meetings -
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AmericanVictoryRadio/.
If you're like me and you're captivated by the idea joining a different type
of club with some unique operating parameters and ties to our history, then
why don't you join me at the next club meeting and see what shipboard radio
life is all about.
The SS American Victory was involved in World War II, and the Korean and
Vietnam wars. This would appear to be a rare opportunity to reach back in
time onboard a floating museum ship that has meant so much to America's
history.
