Hi Dick,
Yep, we've seen may changes and they are not done yet.
I decided to go for my extra in 1985, I finally took the test in 1993.
No reason to rush in. There were two of us taking the extra at the
testing session. The VE played about 15 seconds of code and ask,
how is that, meaning to soft or to load. The other ham replied,
'Too Fast!" He was right, it was for him.
I passed the code and theory at the same session just like I had for
all the other Amateur Exams I've ever took.
I have an ARRL Code Proficiency Certificate with a 30wpm sticker
on it but don't know if I can copy or write that fast anymore.
I prefer 15 to 25 depending on how tired I am.
I feel the same way about losing the freqs. In fact the only reason
I upgraded to Extra is, most of the cw DX is by the lower band edge.
73
Bob
