I recall, in 1966, beginning my Novice year with a Lafayette plastic Bug...I
couldn't afford a vibroplex...
Managed with my t-60 and Hallicrafters s-120 to work all states and dxcc
with three crystals I might add...before taking the general at New York
customs house...followed by the advanced in 1967...passed the extra the week
before they dumped the 20wpm code requirement...and finally, I have my
vibroplex original...along with the ranger II and the kwm-2 that I could
only dream about.
