                   Election of Officers for 2004 Held

"Ed Redington, Jr., W4EBR, was our featured speaker. Ed, a member of our
chapter who now lives in Wilmington, N.C., drove up to Vienna, VA, just to
make his presentation...  He brought along a replica rotary-spark
transmitter built by his dad..."

"Ed demonstrated how a spark operator would turn the rheostat up when
starting to call "CQ", thereby attracting the attention of other operators
who heard the rising pitch of the spark audio. Similarly, when signing off
with "SK," they'd crank the speed down again. Pretty neat sound!"
