[Qcwa] Contest boycotts?

Too late... it's already here... I've know families that were broken up
because a petulant spoiled teen called "child services" (or whatever it's
called in each state), because her parents didn't want their 13 year old
daughter dating a 19 year old boy. I know of one family, where the
sister-in-law claimed her sisters husband abused her daughter, simply
because the sister didn't want to babysit her children for free any more.
Too many times state services ignore the children that are really being
abused and break families apart that shouldn't be. These agencies operate
outside the jurisdiction of a court of law and that is bad. I can see a
short period of separation whereby they have to investigate and show cause
to a court. But to be able to arbitrarily decide is not right.

It's not the children, it's the parents. I feel proud and truly fortunate
that my two children have a "good" set of values. We let them decide their
own political and religous beliefs, never forcing our opinion on them. We
taught them to have their own opinions and beliefs and to be responsible
people. That was our JOB as parents. Their job was to get straight A's in
school and learn about the world and then make a life for themselves. No
person is perfect, certainly not myself or my children, but you can aspire
to live your life well and have respect for yourself and others.

Ok... down of my soapbox now...
