I heartily agree. Also, we need to get back to the concept of "discipline"
as opposed to "self-esteem." Children are not made to behave in a civilized
fashion, since now discipline is seen as a caused of decreased self-esteem.
You see it in the brats running unsupervised in markets and malls. A good
spanking is what they need, but today, they can turn around and claim "abuse
" These are the children that will be the undisciplined, "feel good" leaders
of tomorrow.
Sometimes I'm glad I'm getting old, and won't see it....

Tom, one word expresses the need to aleviate the problems you are speaking
of. That word is "responsibility".
When children are taught responsibility, that will make the difference.
When adults have to make some kind of effort for things now given, they will
take more responsibility. That means the "give away" aspect of today's
society must come to an end. That will have to be replaced with the olden
days idea of helping others who are in need and not letting the government
accept the responsibility.
