Dan,

As one of the early posters in code "thread" I'd like to propose another
parallel line of discussion similar to your, "has anyone built anything
lately or worked DX or sent a QSL, etc."

I'd like for everyone to suspend their criticisms of today's crop of
amateurs and, just for a moment, speculate as to what the Amateur Radio
Service of 2035 will look like.

Do you feel that Amateur Radio will be similar to the hobby service of
today? Or, radically different? If so, how? What sort of licensing
structure do you think we'll have? Will our hobby 30 years in the future
feature any building or homebrew? Or, will everything come pre-packaged
and off-the-shelf? What modes do you think we'll use? Will emergency
communications play a prominent role? Will the present definition of
the Amateur Radio Service stand the test of time? Will the ARRL and QCWA
play a prominent role?

I have my thoughts which I'll post at a later date, but I'd like to hear
what others think.

73,

Phil Temples, K9HI
