CW - YES

There are many reasons - one of which is that little guy in some very poor=20
country who can get a CW station on the air for just a few dollars -=20
I remember the ARRL some years back had very small QRP rigs that they were=20
sending over to some of the poorer countries in Africa so that some dude in=20=
the=20
back country could get on the air with battery power (now recharged with sol=
ar=20
panels). It was a very good effort. =20

Now those guys who live where there is no electricity should BUY a generator=
,=20
get a computer and fire up the big megabucks rig that cost about six or seve=
n=20
years income.. or maybe they should all get on the "birds" using other big=
=20
rigs... How many cows would he need to trade for that?

 I take my little QRP rig to a Boy Scout camp - with a gel cell and solar=20
panel and show the scouts how SIMPLE it can be to get on the air. I try not=
 to=20
scare them with a $4000.00 rig, big computer, and a 150 foot tower with=20
stacked beams and say, "Get into amateur radio - spend your college fund now=
."

I realize some of the "No-Coders" think everyone should just trade in their=20
CB with the big amp and get a complete rig from the "800 Rigs Now"=20
marketplace...

But there are places in this world where living conditions are very basic...
But then again maybe we should just wait for the Big Guns on the=20
DX-expedition to operate from those countries.. If the locals can't afford=
 it, tough!
But I've only been licensed 48 years, maybe if I had more experience....
