Hi All,
Sometimes, as the advertisment says: "think outside the bun.". Our local
QCWA chapter is Capter 14 here in San Diego. At our last meeting in January
our speaker was from the District Attorney's office. This gentleman is in
charge of investigating and prosecuting "Elder Abuse" (and if some of us get
any elder we'll be planted). He was an excellent speaker and talked about
Physical, Emotional, and Financial Abuse. What an eye opener! None of us
present had a clue as to how much of this goes on, even in the best of
families. Scams, scams, scams - you can't believe how many crooks are out
there trying to separate us from our money.
Anyway, we frequently have programs totally unrelated to Amateur Radio, but
of interest to those in our age group and we draw a crowd.
Get someone in to talk about cruising (on ships that is), long term health
care, programs for the 55 and older crowd, let your imagination run wild. If
you like something on Amateur Radio do something that your group might not
be into (yet), like PSK, VOIP, Sattelites on the Cheap (see this month's
QST). If you have a local reserve or national guard unit just back from god
knows where, invite a member or two to come talk about their experiences.
73, Harry
