Some folks met at the recent West Virginia State ARRL Convention at
Jackson's Mill this past weekend (August 23-24, 2003) and discussed
re-energizing the West Virginia QCWA Chapters 30 and 97. Both have
been inactive since about 1999 or so. Chapter 97 appears to be centered
around the Charleston-Huntington area (southwest part of the state)
while Chapter 30 looks like it covers the northern part.

Notably present were Art Ellis W8PBO, Dave Mays K8UI, and Dave Comstock W8YHX.
A few others attended as well. I didn't get a copy of the final sign-up sheet,
but maybe we can get some of those folks hooked up with this list in the near
future.

The upcoming schedule includes a lunch meeting on September 20, 2003 at
Flatwoods WV (I-79 Exit 67) at Larry's Steakhouse. The first session will be
to discuss the steps needed to get the chapters restored to health and also
a get-to-know exchange of "What have You Been Doing In Ham Radio Lately?"...

We'll probably be meeting twice to four times a year, unless the group's
enthusiasm just takes over and everyone can't wait that long for the next
session.

Someone will post notices on this mailing list and hope to get all the Chapter
members signed up who have e-mail access (would you believe there are some folks
out there who don't!!??!!)

the
moment who's on this list!)
