I'm sorry, Joe, but I don't think I can help you on the 5th Sig SVC. As
I say on my web page, I went to work for the Army Signal Service at
Large in Hawaii in 1948. I transferred to the Signal Plant Engineering
agency (in DC) in 1952. I don't know whether the 5th was out of Ft
Gordon or Ft Monmouth. Our job with PEA was strictly Engineering and
Installing world-wide HF communications. In those days it was all RTTY
and tape relay stuff.
