Thanks for that info Harvey/Bessie. I didnt even realize
how many times the dah dah di di dah dah migrated.
When I said dit space dit (letter o in OLD MORSE and
RAILROAD Telegraphy I was right on that and there was
a space between the dits and the combination was the letter
"o" in the old code. As commercial opr in the airlines we
continued using that as it was in old morse di dah dah dit dit
Meaning we were asking for the oprs personal sine at the other
end before passing traffice to him. Another carryover was
di dah dit di dah dah dah
which signified to opr on other end "Sby am changing operators
here". There were few other odd carryovers too but forgot them now.
And now new subject is "phillips code" Does anybody remember
that, and all the combos it offered. I can only remember
N's were used to supplant 9's and long dash (not letter T)
was used to supplant "0" zeroes to speed up the amount of
data passed on CW.
