From midnight to dawn, next Monday and Tuesday about 60-70 meteors per
hour will enter Earth's atmosphere. Viewing should be Good-to-Excellent due
to the Moon transiting from a New Moon on the 8th August to the first quarter
on the 15th August, of course weather permitting.
This shower is created by the Earth passing through the debris field
left from the Swift-Tuttle comet. These grain-like particles enter Earth's
atmosphere, then burn up and create what most people call shooting stars!
The Perseid Meteor shower is NOT expected to be as spectacular as the
Leonid Meteor shower that occurs each November. But, if viewing is good,
people will not be disappointed. For more info on meteor propagation, VHFers
consult your ARRL handbook. More Information can be sought at URLs

Respectfully Submitted.
