Comments:
Another great expedition for the VP5M team. Conditions weren't as good as
last year. 80M was a noise-filled disaster area which hurt the points
total. High bands were reasonable but not exciting.
Murphy stayed away from the station but showed up on the island with a
one-hour power outage Saturday afternoon which cost a large but unknown
loss of Q's and mults. But even with only 47 hours we exceeded our 2023
effort by about two million points.
Minor station improvements boosted the second radio performance to minimize
the dreaded band change rule. In-band operations were pretty seamless and
flattened the learning curve for ops. The EA4TX hardware interlock worked
flawlessly with the K3 TX Inhibit mode to keep us legal. Two-radio stereo
audio also reduced traffic jams and crashes. We ended up with 760 second
radio Q's.
The competition in M/S LP increases every year and it's a big ask for a
little station to be competitive. We don't worry much about that as we like
to show improvement every year and how we place is important but as long as
we have fun and improve every year we're happy campers.
NOTE: Club allocation is 75% PVRC and 25% SECC
Thanks for all the Q's.
