PVRC has once again been given an opportunity to put the HQ stations
NU1AW and W1AW on the air. NU1AW/3 operations will be organized by
W3LPL in the 3rd call area.
W1AW/4 operations will be organized by NR4M for the 4th call area. IARU
is both CeeDubya(CW) and EssEssBee(SSB), so there is a chance for fun in
all flavors.
For any NC stations wishing to host or operators wishing to operate, the
4th call area contact is NR4M.... steve at dx4win.com
[and if you want to, you can contact W3LPL about operating at NU1AW/3]
They are looking for 12 stations, six for each mode. Random
combinations thereof are likely possible for those who have multi
capability.
Due to ElEscribano's known propensity for accuracy(or lack thereof), I
have attached below. ;)
Please pass the message along to any who might also be interested.
Spread the word. IARU 2013 is six months away.
Do not contact ElEscribanoInexacto for more info......cuz this is all I
know yet too.

Steve's message in its entirety:

If you've gotten this message it's because you are listed as contact
person for your PVRC chapter.
Please read the following and pass it around to all PVRC'ers in the 4th
call area. Right now, there is no push or urgency, since we have
several months till the event, but I just wanted to give everyone a
'heads up'.

Hello all,
At the last minute, I was talked into making the drive to Fairfax for
the Central region Xmas dinner in order for me, W3LPL and NN3W, to make
an announcement of importance to most of us.
Next summer, during the IARU Radio Sport contest PVRC has been
authorized to put both NU1AW and W1AW on the air as 'headquarters stations'.
Given this opportunity, it was decided that one call would be used in
the 3rd call district and the other in the 4th call district.
Frank and I were asked by the PVRC officers to manage the efforts for
the two callsigns.
Last evening, in front of those attending, Frank and I drew lots out of
a bag in order to decide which group got which call.
The 4th call district group picked W1AW and the 3rd district group
picked NU1AW.
So, I will be leading the effort for W1AW/4.
Details are pending, but the general intent is for each group to put 12
stations (6 CW and 6 SSB) on the air as HQ stations, for the entire
period of the contest. To this end, I will be soliciting 'applications'
throughout the PVRC chapters in the 4th call district. Station owners
of those selected stations will be encouraged to open their station up
to all PVRC members interested in operating this contest.
Stations will be selected based on multiple criteria, yet to be determined.
Being a HQ station, international attention will be focused on those
involved.
Can you say 'PILEUPS'?
More to come.
73 de Steve, NR4M
