As we discussed in the meeting earlier this evening, this is the information I have collected regarding the program that allows multiple PacketCluster nodes / CW Skimmers to be combined into one virtual telnet session that can then be used as the Packet connection in Writelog or N1MM.

Basically all one has to do is the download the WinTelnetx software zip file from here

http://www.k1ttt.net/software.html#wintelnetx

create a directory and unzip it, and then execute the wintelnetx.exe program. Then open an ini file. I can supply a sample ini file that I am using if you reply directly to me. It is not a large file, and can be attached to an email.

These instructions were created by Pete, N4ZR. They are not completely up to date for the current release of WinTelnetx, but they should be close enough to get you going and give you an understanding of how the program works:

This note was posted to the PVRC reflector by Pete, N4ZR, earlier this week:

I will be making my CW Skimmer available via Telnet during CW Sweepstakes for anyone who wants to hook up. All you need to do is connect to 24.126.38.191, port 7300. The Skimmer will be running 24/7 between now and SS, and beginning Friday before the contest I will set it up to Sweepstakes specs (quick rotation among 20-80 meters, with 150 KHz coverage on 20). Skimmer spots *every* CW signal it can copy once every 15 minutes or so (or more often if the station QSYs), so you will want to set the packet filters in your logging program to exclude as many irrelevant spots as you can. Give it a try - I'll be watching to see how many connections I get. -- 73, Pete N4ZR

After getting Wintelnetx up and running all that is necessary is to point your logging program to 127.0.0.1, which is the address of the virtual telnet session created by WinTelnetx, and you should be good to go. It worked for me in WriteLog. I don't use N1MM, but I assume you define a telnet PacketCluster node in a similar manner as is done in Writelog.

The following links have information on PacketClusters and CW Skimmers that are available online and could be configured into the WinTelnetx program.
