[PVRCNC] Towers over 200'

Yes - You can build a tower of most any height you want provided you
have some really deep pockets and the tower is not located on a Federal
airway or the glideslope of an airport runway. There is an FCC website
called TOWAIR
(http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrSearch/towairSearch.jsp) that will
let you know if the site that you have in mind meets FAA clearance
requirements. Of course, there are other rules that local zoning bodies
spit out on an ever more frequent basis that spell out what you can and
can't do with your own property. Most of these are not written by tower
lovers as you can imagine.

The best way to build a 200' plus tower is to find out where American
Tower/Crown Castle/AT&T/Verizon cellular, etc. have holes in their
coverage and let them subsidize your build.

Have fun at NAB. I was there last year. That show is what Dayton SHOULD
aspire to be!

Greetings from Las Vegas. I am at the NAB show out here.

There have been some discussions about tower heights for receiving DTV.

Word is that the FCC made it law that you can put any tower up that will
allow you a line of sight shot at the TV stations. The thing is that
you can "shop" for your TV stations. In other words you can decide that
you want to receive your TV from a station 100 miles away. <grin>

Now whose to say that you have a TV antenna up there, and might as well
put up a beam too.

Some of us are looking for the proceedings of this. I will be flying
back today so I wont have much time to look, but it could be quite
interesting.
