As chairman of PVRCNC-East chapter, and a firm supporter of our president
and trustees' attempts to maintain a unified club with a fair placement of
the circle, I must take strong exception to the "let's go back to the good
old days and move the circle to someplace in DC, or the middle of the
Potomac River, or whatever. If North Carolina's 80+ members and average 20%
of club scores in unlimited class competition are not wanted, and we're just
some added-on newcomers to the "real" PVRC, then give it to us straight.
We're big guys and we would hate to intrude and put such contest intensity
and points that my great friends and fellow NC PVRC'ers have shown where
it's not desired.
I'm quite sure that a "Carolina's Contesting Group" or whatever would find
some pretty interesting and strong competition among other Medium class
clubs in the region like TCG, FCG and SECC. An optimized 175 mile circle in
the Carolinas would probably welcome some VA contesters as well and in time
could probably also be Unlimited.
PLEASE, PLEASE. This is NOT what I am advocating. But if we are going to
start bickering about who is "real" PVRC or not, or what would George
Washington or Thomas Jefferson think, then that's when this club is really
heading downhill.
Think again, folks. 73,
Jim, K4QPL
