Guys,

Thanks for the info.  It certainly appears that the unit I have is 
defective in either design or manufacture.

Replacing it with something else is still a problem.  STAPLES is the 
only seller of such here.  All their monitors on display look terrible 
since they are fed in parallel from a single source via splitters.
I went as far as asking the manager to hook up the monitor to a single 
computer.  He would not.  Finally, he told me to bring it back if it 
were not acceptable.  Guess what? It goes back today for a refund.
