Hope everyone found a way to participate in Field Day. I hear from Henry
PVRCNC West had a great time in Winston Salem and in between trips to the
grill, the pig smoker, and the beer cooler they made a good quantity of
qso's. Our FD wasn't on a culinary par. Our caterers were Domino's,
McDonald's and Hardee's but everyone had fun. Would remind everyone to send
me photos of your FD experience.

Which brings me to the subject. Everyone knows attendance at chapter
meetings has declined. We have a couple choices. Let things go to the point
where we don't meet at all, or make our meetings a fun gathering where we
get to know each other better, learn about contesting and make the first
Thursday of the month something to look forward to.

To help make our meetings a fun and valuable event, I have formed a program
committee chaired by Jack, W0UCE, and ably assisted by Howie, N4AF.
Additional members are welcome to volunteer if Jack doesn't draft you first!

For our July meeting, Jack is putting the focus on fun. We're going to have
some pub contests, some challenges, and a door prize that will be won by
smarts, not mere luck. Howie is working on some useful take home items which
are destined to become true PVRC collectibles and are ONLY available at the
meeting. If I say much more, Jack and Howie would have to kill me, so I'll
let you find out first hand for yourself.

We will also welcome Larry, K1ZW, to his first meeting. If you know anyone
else who is interested in contesting, invite them along as well.

If you haven't been to a PVRC meeting for a while, please come to this one.
Put in your two cents on the location, the program, and give us your input
on what will keep you coming back for more.

Remember, the meeting is NOT at the Golden Corral, but at Manchesters on
Leesville Road in NW Raleigh near the I-540 exit. Full details
http://www.pvrcnc.org/

As this is our first meeting at Manchesters, I'd like to give them an idea
of expected attendance. Please send me an email. A simple "Yes" will
suffice. Otherwise, it better be a very legitimate excuse like attending the
great hamfest in the sky, or something very similar, such as living in Maine
for the summer like one member best left uncalled.

73,

Jim K4QPL
