Hi Gang,

Get those generators out of the garage and start them today so you'll have
time to fix or tune before Saturday. When FD is over, avoid problems next
time the generator is needed.

One of the ones I tried to start (NOT my personal one) was completely dead.
It ran briefly with a small squirt of gas in the carburetor. That confirmed
that fuel had dried in the main jet pickup in the bowl and gummed the tube.

Some tips on storage:

1. Use fuel conditioners. They do extend fuel life but not indefinitely.
6-12 months max. Less if stored outdoors or in high heat/humidity locations.
After mixing the conditioner, run the engine for a few minutes so
conditioned fuel has circulated into the carburetor.

2. When you finish with a generator, turn off the fuel and let it burn
the fuel out of the carburetor.
IMPORTANT: As the engine starts to die, don't let it stop immediately. Keep
it running by jockeying the choke lever until you can't keep it going any
longer. This will suck the fuel out of the bowl, or at least well below the
level of the main jet pickup which is the weak point for evaporation and
gum. It will start right up next time and you'll either save an hour of your
time or a repair bill if you're not into gas engines.

Have fun!

Jim, K4QPL
