It sure is nice to see those top scores for an "operating event." ;^)
Congrats to that big score from W3AO.

We were pretty pleased with the "operating event" in the competitive 2A
category with N4C coming in nationally at #10 with a total of 4 ops (3 main
and 1 GOTA), PVRC'ers KO4PY, WJ9B, K4QPL and GOTA op N2PY.

Stats also showed N4C as 3rd in Roanoke Division and 2nd in NC for ALL
entries regardless of number of transmitters.

Pete, I just realized maybe you meant the all-time transmitter total record.
If so, yes, you're right, that's a new record, we believe. But, it's
clearly an unofficial thing, no one except us is paying attention to such
things, and ARRL makes a point of not making a fuss over anything that makes
it look more like a contest, etc. Especially being PVRC (plus CARA), they
know we're contesters and don't want to make a big deal out of it if we
"win" Field Day, so as not to upset the general interest clubs who "compete
in" Field Day but don't consider it a contest, etc. There are semantics and
politics involved, with FD being the biggest operating event of the year in
W/VE, and ARRL wants to keep the interest level in it high and not do or say
anything that might create a controversy amongst the non-contesters who go
out every year and "contest" in it.
