Many thanks for the reply Bob, you ask why keep the telescoping aerial
attached?
AS stated I have a  discone aerial and a 2 mtr Slim Jim attached to a 3 way
switch box.
I am planning to leaving the telescoping aerial attached and put the switch
box in the unused position so that I can try out the different aerials.
